Dear H3N fans,
This year will have been a terrible year for most people, but despite the sadness and all the trouble around the world, I hope you can all enjoy a quietly contented and merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season.
As for me.... I've been contacted by the government yesterday because some random dude that visited my gym got tested positive to covid, so even though my tests came back negative, I have to be quarantined for 14 days in complete isolation... no visits, no Christmas, no holidays, no New Year Eve for me this year... T_T
I guess more time to work on TFS...

ReplyDeleteIf I remember exactly, we currently have 3 Trinity of Guardians including Rhea-Hyperion-Leto; Ran-Hanuman-Tethys; Saga-Zeliel-Starlight.
Oracle and Lumiel are the last remaining Archangels. Oracle has revealed that there will be an unawakened Archangels, she does not know who it is.
The title of The Fallen Star Ch. X is revealed to be The Last Trinity. The Last Trinity is a reference to the 3rd Archangel that will appear right?
You have sorted the characters by age: Oracle > Lumiel > Rhea > Hyperion > Leto > Ran = Hanuman > Tethys > Saga > Zeliel > Starlight.
That mean Saga is older than Starlight, but on page 231 (The Fallen Star Ch. 6: Guardians), Saga said she was Starlight's little sister, can you explain?

I mean the end result won't change whether we get to "enjoy" this masterpiece next week or next year... Actually if it was realeased next week the me a year from now would be depressed that he already "enjoyed" it and knows the ending!

ReplyDeleteWhat release model are you thinking of for the next Fallen Star? Have you considered doing episodic releases or is it going to be one big chapter as per usual? Not sure if it makes it easier or harder on you but seemed like the finale was setting up a number of individual important corruption scenes like Leto vs Hyperion, Starlight with the captain and demon, and Karen headed to earth to spread her new corrupting poison. Would it make sense to release each of these scenes individually as theyre fully completed or to break up the chapter some other way?

I seriously doubt Shinra will choose to release in smaller episodes, especially considering the so-so effect this had with the final HC chapter.
DeleteThere is also more than likely no way the events in the final chapter will be as neatly organised as the examples you mention with each individual scene started and completed before moving on to another.
Shinra has a certain idea in mind of what each chapter of his comics should contain, a number of events, a certain amount of progress the story makes, a balance of regular story scenes and juicy scenes. We get the best result if we simply let Shinra make and release the chapter in the exact way as he envisioned when writing.
On a personal note, I also prefer the big and fully complete chapter releases because I can then work with all material at once and base specifics in the text to earlier or later pages, or I can point out missing transition pictures or the like to get to later pages without holes in the story.
Gotcha. Yeah I was just curious if it would be easier/make more sense or not. That all makes sense though.

I was referring to the most recent HC chapter, which is the 4th and final chapter.
DeleteShinra drove himself crazy getting to a decision what to do at the very end, and this hesitation caused the entire chapter to take forever to appear (which, in turn, got in the way of starting work on the last TFS chapter.)
For this reason, Shinra decided to release just the first half of HC4, so that there was at the very least something for fans to read.
You could say that this was exactly what the people who have asked for smaller chapters in shorter intervals (like ddr's suggestion above) wanted, but this backfired immediately because the reception was lukewarm at best. The chess scene (with its story-wise unimportant characters) was the main attraction now suddenly, and this disappointed everyone who was waiting for more juicy plot development. So the downside to releasing only a portion of the intended pages immediately surfaced.
Last year was horrible, but hopefully, we can begin to see a Light at the end of this horrible tunnel...THEANTJACK

DeleteA small spin-off comic sounds good in theory, but would be counterproductive in reality because it would get in the way of work on TFS, which is what most people would prefer to see him work on.
