Happy New Year 2018!

Happy New Year my friends,

As promised, it was not conceivable to leave 2017 and start 2018 without an update on your, should I dare say, favorite comic ^^

As you might have seen, we've nearly reach the 90% mark. It represents 430 pages for the total chapter and around 210 just for this part 2. I reckon the overall chapter 9 will be over 500 pages, so you would have understood that part 2 will be a bit bigger than part 1. Yeaaaaah!

Because it's new year and because it's also the time for good resolutions hum hum...
I promise that the last remaining chapter of the saga, chapter 10, will be released on a completely different and more regular basis.

Enjoy the update and see you in a couple of months for the release.

    Looks awesome - the quality of the pics are fantastic. They've come along way from your first three chapters. How many more scenes are left to create? id the script done with the storyboard or until after you've done all the rendering?

      Thanks! Including the one I'm working on right now, a big one, 2 medium size ones, and 1 short one.

      Script has been done for a very long time now, storyboard is pretty much finished too. Only remains rendering and edition ^^

      I originally hoped for an outright win for the Demons (of course the monsters weren't a faction at the beginning), but, now that the monsters have Ms.T and Saga (who are so hot), I second the hope for the Demons to dominate everyone. It can be Satan or Starlight who ultimately wins, I don't care (as long as an evil being wins :) )

    What is annoying about this process is that he needs "a couple months" he clearly can get it done fairly quickly if he focused on it. Its such a tease.

    Otherwise why not produce 1% a week as of January 1st? thats a couple months, brings you to 98%, 1% for final checking, 1% for upload, and done.

      This is not a full time job mate. Its a pass-time that he's kind enough to share with the rest of us. And experience has shown that progress is never enough. People still demand more progress faster.

      Yeah, it's 10% until it's released, but it's also a lot of work and if you think you could do it faster then you are welcome to make your own comic and show everybody how it's done.

    Hey Shinra, this is kind of random, but here goes. At the end of chapter 7, we see Arachnea spit out a spider which later approached Leto in the shower. Had Leto not killed that spider, what would have happened? Would it have crawled inside her or bitten her? Will we see this possibly happen to another character?

      Real MP here. This is indeed a new all-time low. I can imagine some troll simply making an anonymous comment and then filling in my name, as has happened a few times before. Going so far as to make "official" fake profiles, including avatar pictures, is both sad and scary. And to top all of that, it's these ridiculous posts again about someone dying!
      I know this is the internet and decency in communication is far from guaranteed, but I can only hope this joker learns to grow up as soon as possible.

      To clarify for those even having a speck of doubt: Shinra is fine, just busy. The last scenes of the chapter simply take up a lot of time, and he hasn't got much time to spend on comics.

    Hi Shinra!

    First of all, I wanted to thank you for all the hard work you put in for such an involved (and free!) project. I really appreciate it and hope you know most of your fanbase is fine with you taking all the time you need.

    Second, I just have a minor question regarding a side character- is there any chance we'll see the cute police officer from chapter 8 again? (The one Sgt. Mendez and, later, Sgt. Reese was corrupting from pages 381 to 388) I thought she was one of your best character designs thus far and I'd love to see her back in either this chapter or the last if there is an opportunity for it, ideally as a corrupted demon or, even better, in the process of transforming into one.

    If it doesn't fit your story to have the police return, I understand but I thought I'd throw the request out just in case there was an opportunity.

    Well, hi Shinra. I'm a really really old fan of your comics, but just now i decided to say(write) something here. First place, what i most love in your comics, mainly TFS, besides the corruption, wich is amazing, is the fact that the good guys are not winning. We always see and hear stories about the good side being the winner, but until now at least, your story have been different. I know that, probably, at some point, the angels need turn the game, win the war( or not, maybe :) ) but anyway, is incredible see so many corruptions and so many wins of the bad guys in a story.
    And, to finish, i would like to let here my honest opinion: Miss T is the most important character. Since beginning she has been envolved in the events, she being corrupted was essential for the story happens, and that corruption was perfect: slow, calm, affecting both body and mind. I hope see more of she corrupting another characters because I confess, she is my favorite here.
    Well, keep the fantastic work, I'm crazy to see this new chapter.

      Hey buddy, give a look in league of justice of black pharao. Its incredible. Since we already have the league with black pharao i dont like the idea about shinra using it too. He doesn't need it because he created from 0 an amazing world of characters and places to explore with his story. If you wanna see the league corrupted, black pharao is the man.

    I do think, regardless of what comic gets a follow up next, it'd be a good idea to explore a new release model. I know you can only make what you have time to make regardless of how often you release, but releasing a few scenes a month in bite sized fashion might be better than getting a huge dump once every year or so. (Granted, the huge drop does feel reallllllly good when it happens)

    Hopefully will get to see this chapter of The Fallen Star finished by the end of the month, whatever Shinra decides to do next it's fine by me. I'm really looking forward to see Minea corrupted on HC4 and Legion was about to get fun with chapter 2.

    I agree with the dude above. It is better to make 50-70 pages for a chapter of some kind of comics, but to see more often something really worthwhile. And yet I think that if a person does not like what he does then nothing worthwhile we will not see.

    Dear Bruno Martin, I wanted to see not only the corruption of the Wonder Woman but also her protector of the goddess Herra. In general, all the goddesses of Greek mythology. Do not you wonder how would they depict their Shinara before corruption and after? And as for the works of the Black Pharaoh, then I think they are not bad, but I prefer 3d comic books the more they can be animated on them. I hope to see something like this in Shinara in the future.

      Thanks, Bruno. The added problem this time is that there is an actual time limit because Shinra is away from home during the entire month of march, and we all know that nobody is willing to wait a whole additional month just because the editor guy wasn't able to fully complete polishing up all the details.

      132 pages were covered in october, but Shinra hasn't yet gotten to working on the fixes. I have now gotten 130 additional pages, but that's still not the end of it yet.

      The problem is, and this may come as a surprise to some, I have a life too and can't work on this on each of the remaining february days.
      It's all going to be...problematic at best. Pressure is also counterproductive because inspired text fixing and rewriting requires a clear head. Sometimes it's easy, and sometimes I need an hour to get a single picture right.

      But again, we'll see how it works out.

I know you guys may not want to trust the job to another random person, but as a writer with plenty of free time thanks to recently leaving a job, I could take part of the load if needed.       Alright Let's clarify things before the discussion get out of hands...
      One, there's still plenty for me to render, so don't go thinking putting pressure on MpGrey will speed things up, he can only work on what he has and two, I'm sorry for using this poor wording which has now put MPgrey in a delicate situation of feeling like he has to do aaaaallll the remaining work before I go. When I said I'd try to get everything ready by March, I only meant rendering wise. I can obviously only render when I'm home on my big rig and not while I'm travelling. But it doesn't mean I can't work on finishing the edition while I'm gone.

      It will get done when it gets done, I for one (and I believe most are in agreement with me on this) am willing to wait for quality work for as long as it takes to get done.

      If we get it in April, great; if we get it in May, great; if we get it in June, great.

      Take as long as you need to make the comic up to your standards Shinra; people might get pissy that it's taking longer than they want, but that's their problem, not yours.

      Keep up the good work that you're doing, and I look forward to the release when it's finished! :)

I was even concerned that you guys would stress yourself to fulfill this. Anon above me is completly right don't rush, and just try to create what you can until you have to leave.

    I have to say that I really enjoy the facial expressions Shinra gives the people while they get corrupted. I don't know how difficult it is to do that, but it is something important in comics like these, simple words are not enough, you have to see it in their eyes as well.

    Won't the corrections that need to be made after mpgrey makes his edits need to be rendered? In the past, I remember entire scenes having to be reworked. I'm figuring that we all should be realistic and resign ourselves to the fact that ch 9 will not be published until April at the earliest.

      The overwhelming majority of everything that I address is text-based. That's just a simple matter of changing words to other words and is something that Shinra could even do on his laptop while away from home.

      I do usually ask for some changed pictures or additional pictures, though, when a scene doesn't flow well or could be made more interesting. That is no different for this chapter. There is a scene where events happen that aren't believable and logical. It should be able to be easily fixed with some additional pictures, but Shinra still needs to make them. He will obviously prioritize this problem and leave the text for when all the rendering at least has been done.
      It's nowhere near as problematic as the scene from TFS8 you probably refer to that had to be redone from scratch.

    This also gives a reason why pictures aren't posted as, and when, they are created, (as was hinted at earlier). If corrections to a scene need to be made at a late stage in the creation of the whole, then it is better to relase it all when it is truly finalsed.

      I haven't even given Shinra my opinion yet, so I'll keep it vague on purpose.
      The structure of the chapter is calmer than TFS8. There are not as many different scenes, and we generally stay with a scene until it has concluded.
      As this is the penultimate chapter of a huge story, there isn't room to tackle things as slowly as before. There is clearly some wrapping up going on, but I feel that Shinra has found a good balance of not doing this too forcefully.
      In other words, the story is clearly moving towards the end, but even though you understand that the speed needs to increase (which it does), it is still taking care of its characters and events carefully.

      ...And just when you think that, one scene has an unexpected turnaround that leaves it wide open as to what is going to happen in chapter 10. It certainly caught me by surprise!

      So yeah, I'm actually very impressed by the storyboarding of this chapter. There is nothing more difficult than making a huge story (that has literally gone on for years) reach a satisfying conclusion with an equally satisfying pace.
      (I can only hope that I can find a similar balance for Gaia 6...)

      I obviously can't conclude anything about chapter 10, but chapter 9 is a job well done.

    Question for you... When you released Chapter 8 it was released in 3 seperate releases as opposed to the entire thing at once. I know you have released part 1 already but will there be a part 2 or part 3 or will it simply be part 2 to be released all at once.

      To be honest - if you managed to release it by 8th of March, it would have been miracle and frickin' awesome. But - and it is a big but (pun intended) - if no, then that is perfectly fine. Take your time and don't give in to those bastar*s that are pretending to be you, or mpgrey, or those f*ckers that said that you're dead. You're doing a tremendous job for free, in your spare time.       Oh, the comic? For now the goal remains for Shinra to complete all the rendering before he leaves home. These last pages then obviously still need to be sent to me. I'm done with all other pages, though.
      Working in the final text corrections will be done while Shinra is away.
      For now, you should all keep your fingers crossed that Shinra will be able to complete all those pictures in the next two days. That's gonna be tight.

      But let's not get too ahead of ourselves. We're super close to the finish line, but rendering time is also seriously running out. No matter what happens and how long everyone has already been waiting, we're not going to rush the last parts of this chapter just to get it online earlier.

    I don't think we should get any more previews at this point. Save the scenes we haven't seen anything from as a surprise for the final product. If anything, I'd rather get the portion of the comic that is complete right now as the main comic, and just have the final scene added as an "epilogue" later so there's no time crunch to get the last scene just to meet this deadline. If the last pics being rendered are climatic moments or don't make sense as an epilogue, though, then just hold off till April or whatever. Just my 2 cents.
