DeleteHey Shinra. I had an evil idea. You know how the Fallen Star is now powered up after taking a literal bloodbath? Well, I was thinking one of her new powers would be the ability to suck energy from someone and add their power to her own. Not enough to kill them, but enough for the victim to not be a threat to her in the future. Maybe half to three quarters of their energy.You can decide how she does that on your own. She seems to want more say as to what goes on in Hell, so I think there should be a certain victim to test the ability out on... Hope you like the idea. If the power is already shown in Chapter 8, I'll have to wait to see what you do with it. Thank you for reading and have a good day.

Well I have to say that all that work it's amazing, but I don't like the shortness of the sexual acts, its like being in a hurry all things. I would love to see some more scenes of the laboratory seduction or some more sexual scenes of convent seduction, especially the lesbian corruptions. I know that all these would lead to an even more extended chapters, but I feel like all that work is half and doesn't satisfy me.

DeleteI agree, the lab scenes with karin should have been longer, and personally ran's corruption was a mess. The tattoo on her face was just awkward and her overall corruption look was just shabby. But then again its just a trick in tethys head so maybe there was not a need to do so much about her yet.

Another thing I have to point out is about tethys, after all the time she spends in that place her hair grows long a little but her pubic hair doesn't. I guess some angels have their pussy naturally bald? :D

ReplyDeleteThere is always the danger of getting derailed in sub events. The story already has so many different characters to focus on and deal with that it's just not doable to properly deal with all the "unimportant" side characters without losing track of the main plot.
DeleteThat's also the answer to the anonymous above asking for more attention to all the random Moyira maidens. The story would become endless if special attention is given to these random girls who only appear in just one or two scenes.
The center focus of this chapter is on Tethys: that is the main event and her scenes should be given the most attention. And with that as a base, you fill in the next most important characters to spend pages on. Random Malakim or Moyira girls end up at the bottom of the priority list.
Awesome. Loved the Karin scenes - I never thought much of her character until this release. I love her new look and actually think the number of pics was perfect given how much is going on. U thought maybe one pic of the captured guard posy corruption on Moyira but I admit that is nitpicking.

Wold have loved to see more than just her hand but Shinra has to make sure to bring people back to here to the comment section to ask how much longer. May I make a proposal? I have in my mind the scenes from Lord of the Rings and Palantir, the glass ball, when someone looked inside got absorbed by Shaouron, why not have a seduction and corruption through a similar process? A girl who looks in the sphere getting attracted to it and Devil seduce her and corrupt her step by step!

DeleteIn regards with Fallen Star, even if MpGrey and HoC are looking after all the edition of the chapter, there's still plenty of other stuff to do on it, so I'm still mostly working on this. I'm also working on the script of Chapter 9.
But it's also true that I'm working on creating characters for other coming projects (Yoru, HC, Legion, and my next big project after Fallen Star).
And lately, I've been playing with Bryce to try to create skyrim-like environment for my future projects. Never stop learning ;)

DeleteIt's strange how few comments are here when compared with Part I comment section... I think I will share my thoughts on this Chapter (And ask a few questions If You don't mind).
ReplyDeleteKarin's corruption was awesome it was an epitome of corruption (contrast before and after how she was resisting and thinking of her friends even when her body was partly demonic, attempts by her corruptor to instill resentment in her and the way she broke) My favourite corruption so far along with Maria's, though it seems like Tethys's corruption may trump that. Also liked corruption of this order. It kinda seems like the power of those Acolytes was designed just so that they may be corrupted by the sins they devour, am I jumping to conclusions here?
Now that I'm talking about particular corruptions I would like to ask about corruption of Lumiel... in chapter 6 her corruption seemed to be going in an awesome direction (seemed like my favourite at the time) She grew a tail, had black veins and was succumbing bit by bit, And yet it was cut abruptly in chapter 7. The changes i mentioned before disappeared without a word of explanation and her corruption consisted only of a few pages of cocooning and hatching - this made me a sad, sad panda. Were there some changes in artistic design or problems with Lumiel's corruption?
Saga - It seems like her TF may be the most underwhelming. It had a great premise with her being forced to kill human in hell, she seemed like the kindest and the most innocent guardian and I was really looking forward to her corruption, The problem is I didn't even notice when it happenned. She was basically controlled by the snake that resided in her body up till the point when Mrs. Medusa transformed her body. After that I thought that It was the snake that controlled her and spoke using her mouth, so when I saw Saga (already corrupted) talking with the snake in Part I of Chapter 8 I became an even sadder Panda. When did she broke and her mind changed? Did she become evil simply because Medusa bit her once? When you compare It with the effort Satan needed to corrupt Starlight Tethys and Kim it seems strange. I regret that it wasn't represented better. (I feel like it wasn't represented at all)
Similarly I was Sad that Kim who was slowly getting corrupted was later cleansed (by Mr. Satan which sounds strange) only to become possessed. Maybe some of you guys liked it, but i honestly don't get it. We have pure Kim who gets killed and is replaced by someone else who is just using her body, Pure Kim that gets broken, corrupted and transforms into evil Kim is a true corruption. Which is why after reading Part II I became a happy Panda once more! Kim is still there somewhere probably waiting for corruption (maybe she is that Archangel?) Go Shinra, go! (inspector gadget tune as BGM)
Overall I Love this chapter, corruptions are the best in a long while Improvement in art is striking, Artistically this chapter is the best. Now that I think about it most of my complaints were about previous chapters. Also I think you should consider splitting next chapters into parts as well, not because I'm impatient but simply because erocomics are not meant to have 700 pages I understand though that your artistic vision may be different and i respect that. Also You are putting in so much effort in your work that at this rate chapter13 will have over 1000 pages (not that I mind)

About the Kael clan, let's hope they were clever enough to think of a solution to deal with the sins they devour! They're not much of a help if all they do is replace the problem. >_<
You'll get another "taste" of their sin eating powers in part 3.
About Saga, I think it wasn't all as sudden as you describe it.
She was being controlled by Vore when she met Arachnea for the first time. At that time, Vore itself was under the control of the forces of hell and Arachnea removed that link.
When Saga (still under Vore's control) met Arachnea for the second time, Arachnea took over Saga for herself (ch. 7 pages 98, 99, and 100). I think it's pretty obvious in these pages.
With Saga now being a "child" of Arachnea too, she more or less has the same status as Vore, so they are equal and work as a duo.
As you can see, one bite is all it takes so the devil is just doing it wrong! >_<
Saga would have another look/form in part 3 wouldn't she? Just stay tuned for it, iirc shinra said her new form would be in this chapter

Still it was totally worth it, I regret that it ended so soon. Thanks for compliment mpgrey but I'm not so sure about quality of my English, I tend to make mistakes that are painful to look at so it's better if I apologize in advance. Now you say that next chapters shouldn't be as big as this one but isn't that only because you haven't started working on them yet? :D

May I also ask again about Lumiel's tf? Was it planned like this from the very beginning or was it changed during creation of 7th chapter? I'm asking 'cause there are some minor discrepancies between 6th and 7th chapter (and also because I'm a nosy fellow)

DeleteA corruption fairy you say? Wow, that's thinking too highly of me. Shinra and G9 are these fairies instead and I'm just an assistant. I just wrote a big explanation below about what it is that I do.
Basically, I'm just a fan of these comics who wants to see these comics reach their max potential. Shinra and G9 both used to work alone: of course they make mistakes, and all I do is provide an extra pair of eyes to remove the mistakes before the comics are put online.
The difference between G9 work and H3N work is that Shinra uses my help at the very end of the process and G9 uses me already at the start.
I'll let Shinra answer the Lumiel and Saga questions as only he knows what he was thinking when he made chapter 7.
(And be sure to check out the K-On! anime is you liked the manga. A rare case where the anime sticks very close to the source material and just enriches it with color, animation, and voices without taking anything away from the original source material.)

DeleteI'll try to explain the, as best as I can, choices that led to Lumiel and Saga's corruption.
Let's start with the great Archangel Lumiel.
Her corruption started in chapter 4, where she got caught by Starlight and Damian. Since that very moment, she has never stopped fighting against the darkness that were devouring and staining her from the insight. She might have been purified by Zeliel, but it seemed like her darkside was still there, hidden in the depth of her soul...
In Chapter 7, the changes you mentioned have not vanished, she managed to suppress them thanks to her will, she's still fighting although she succumb to her desires, and call out to Zell for "help".
Unfortunately, and you're right, visually speaking, her transformation was not that good. The reason is simply that, despite I envisioned something way more epic for fall of the great Lumiel, my artistic skills were not enough to bring to life what I had in mind. Also don't forget that the corruption of Lumiel has only been possible because her real powers has been sealed by God, to allow her to walk among human without causing them harm, and Hopefully for us, we should not be done yet with Lumiel ;)
As for Saga's case, again, you might not be pleased by the final result, but. IMHO, I'm more looking at it for from a process point of view. Her corruption started late in chapter 6, where she has been forced to swallow a demonic worm, and kill a human, which made her lose her holiness >_< As from there, she will be sent on a mission to free Arachnea, who, at the end, will cut the connection between starlight and the worm. But Saga is still under the control of Vore, who is going to trick her, faking to be her friend, giving her bad advice, compelling her to fuck Emika. Saga is really an innocent, the youngest guardian after Starlight. She's playful but she's not the smartest one, and slowly she gets influenced by Vore's thoughts. I really tried to be innovative with each and every corruption of my main characters. And I really think Saga is a good example of it. Yes, it only takes a bite from Arachnea to turn her body into one of a monster, but her mind had already been filled with darkness since Vore entered her body for the first time. And trust me, Arachnea is not miss nobody, you'll see ;)
As I explained, I always try to find a new and interesting way of corrupting characters, sometimes it can be erotic, sometimes I take my time, and in some other cases it has to happen fast. The story also need to progress and I can afford to spend 3 chapters on the corruption of each main character, unfortunately. Or we would end up with a never ending story.
And sometimes, my lack of skills also get in the way >_< I envision something, but I'm unable to render it the way I want T_T
Hopefully, there's still plenty of things to come and plenty of character to corrupt :p

DeleteLumiel, there is no need to remind me about the fact that her powers were sealed, I understand why she was so easily subdued in school. What I didn't understand was why those cool-looking corruption signs at the end of chapter 6 disappeared without explanation in chapter 7. As for her transformation, I never said that it was visually bad, it was great and that's not an issue, my problem is that she was resisting corruption since chapter 4 (everything till the 7th chapter was nicely represented) and her final corruption consisted just of pictures and lacked internal monologue (or dialogue with her dark side like you did earlier) that would complement the pictures, since she was in cocoon even black background would suffice, I mean I'm kinda curious about what she thought or felt when she was finally succumbing to darkness after resisting for so long. Tainted but still good Lumiel going into the cocoon and completely evil Lumiel leaving it without anything in between seems a bit shallow (I don't mean to be rude). Just think about how Maria's corruption would like without conversation between her and Lilith.
Saga, It's not that I wasn't pleased by the final result, I liked it, it's just that I felt somewhat underwhelmed and think that it could've been much better. I love your work and I read previous chapters a few times already, I understand the process of her transformation. It's just that on page 43 she tries to kill Mrs. Spider (therefore, despite being forced to kill human in previous chapter she is still good) on page 90 Mr. Tapeworm gloats that Saga only thinks that she is playing with Emika of her own free will and that he truly controls her mind, on pages 98/99 she calls Mrs. Spider a "fucking spider" and threatens to tell guardians about everything then she is bitten and on page 103 she is a loyal daughter of Mrs. Spider. I can't help but feel like her actual corruption happened on pages 100-103 and it felt a bit abrupt. It's opposite to Lumiel's corruption. It had a few lines of texts during TF that added it some depth but the foreshadowing (Lumiel had great one) that led to it felt lacking.
I don't think that You need to worry about your artistic skills, to me You are a miracle-worker, It's more about the storytelling skills (which again are not bad). You as an author know your work better than any reader, you conceived it and everything is set in your mind, that's why nothing can surprise You about it. Reader may not get why or how one thing led to another, when it's crystal clear to You. He may also perceive something differently from you. To You everything that led to Saga's corruption seems like a wholesome process while I feel that it lacks something and it happened abruptly.
I hope that my comments weren't rude, and conveyed my thoughts accurately, Also I apologize for any mistakes I might've made. Once more thanks for replying Shinra! I love your work.
P.S. Now I'm really curious how did you originally envision Lumiel's corruption? I would very much like to know it... Pretty please?

DeleteMpgrey, forgive my lack of insight. What role do you play in the making of this comic?
ReplyDeleteI only add that final 1 or 2% needed to polish the comic some more.
ReplyDeleteI received the pages for part 2 and part3 when the progress bar here on this blog was already at 95%. At that time, the pages were completely new to me, so in no way have I had any role in planning anything for the story: I'm just a reader like everyone else.
After I get the pages, I concentrate on each and every picture and text bubble to check if they're flawless. Does the text contain any errors? Is the text making sense or conveying the right feeling or atmosphere? Does the text bubble itself has the right shape? Do all the text bubbles have the correct position in the picture to make it natural to read everything in the correct order? Are the pictures in need of any "sound effects" or visual effects? Is there anything else about the picture that needs correcting?
With this in mind, I work through all the pictures. I write big emails in which I mention everything there is to mention. When the mistakes are obvious, it's just a matter of "change "meiwoow" to "meiwow", add a comma between "obvious" and "it's" and change the question mark at the end to an exclamation mark."
In other cases, a whole sentence needs to be rebuilt (because it's just too broken) and I give Shinra some options to choose from.
Sometimes I can't even tell what Shinra is exactly trying to have his character say so he needs to answer that first. To give a random example of this from part 1, in the Moyira scene where Faye gives Justine information of everything on the island, Justine had a reaction somewhere in a thought bubble that worked better as something spoken. So I asked Shinra "is she reacting here while acting like a normal human being or is she reacting like the demon that she secretly is?" By thinking about this together, we can add or remove bubbles, change them from spoken to thought or vice versa, and adapt the text inside them. Sometimes, you just need another pair of eyes to be made aware that something feels weird, forced, or is just incorrect.
This way, I work through bigger and smaller details to make the text that tiny bit better than it used to be.
It's the same for the visual part. In the previous thread, I already mentioned Karin missing her horn in a few pictures. Examples of part 2 changes are the removal of the heavenly portal between Evelyn's legs, Faye secretly being an exhibitionist (also with hairy armpits!), Carla unable to stand the sight of Lilith, and Emika living in the sky.
Long story short, I am simply the first reviewer of the pages and I get a chance to have all errors removed before the rest of the world gets to enjoy the pages the way they were intended. I hope this answers your question.
Oh btw, meiwow, allow me to thank you personally for your Violet translation! The G9 duo is very proud and pleased to get their first translated comic. My Spanish is severely lacking but you appear to be very good at your job. It's a mystery why your TFS translations get such poor ratings. :[

DeleteYeah, I believe a lot of my ratings might be from haters, I've noticed I've gotten 2 or 3 one star ratings within barely a minute of my gallery being posted which means they couldn't have had the time to look at it and dislike it, just basically saw what it was (spanish) or who it was posting it and gave it a one star automatically. But I enjoy translating these things, it's like looking at the story from a different perspective since you have to adjust and come up with equivalents for things that exist on a culture and don't in another, ways of saying things on a culture that wouldn't make sense in the other, etc. It's not as easy as it seems :P
...And it makes you completely involved with the comic. By just reading it, there are always certain details you don't notice but when you're forced to "study" each and every single word, you feel like you know and understand 100% of the comic. It's also a certain responsibility to be the one who provides the comic for all your fellow Spanish-speakers, needing to make it as good as you possibly can. In that sense, it's the exact same for me because I also feel I should get it as perfect as possible right away. After it is online, it's too late to change anything because nobody is interested anymore in corrections to details.
DeleteThere are many times when I, Shinra, or G9 are also struggling with the language barrier, trying to find the correct way to express something in English that comes naturally to us in our own native tongues.
I can imagine it must be tough to stay motivated with those nonsense ratings from haters. You can easily bear them if they have little impact to the combined rating but if their trolling causes the translated comic and thus all your work to show just having 2 or less stars, it must be tough to ignore that, knowing that you did a good job. Or do you post the translation also to other websites where you do get the appreciation that you deserve?
Naw just e-hentai, it annoys me there's people like that but I wouldn't say it affects my motives, I wipe my butt with people like that. I know there's plenty of people who enjoy my translations and I enjoy making them. I'll remind people to not forget to rate my posts in the future to balance out negative ratings but it doesn't really get to me or anything because I know my work isn't bad, it is a little annoying though, like dealing with annoying little kiddie brats..

I don't think it spells out the overall theme of the chapter, the one with saga and tethys fighting the monsters... that's my constructive feedback right there. :)

A funny example of this is how Selina's (yes, she is in part 3) clothing slowly disappears in some pictures.

DeleteA lot will depend on how much I can get done tomorrow. I just typed for 6 hours straight and got 40 pages done as a result. If I can get the same amount done tomorrow, a thursday release could be possible. Friday or saturday is a lot more realistic though. (And a lot kinder to my sanity.)

DeleteNah, I'm just the only one reporting progress here on the blog. HoC is giving most of the part 3 pages a first review, catching already many mistakes. Shinra makes a second version and I work on those pages. I have now completed all of the "second version" pages that I have so Shinra needs to send me more (100 pages left + about 10 pages for a new scene).
DeleteIt could go quickly; it could go slowly. Hard to tell, and that's why it's so hard to predict a day that everything is complete.
Fortunately, after part 3 is ready, there aren't more pages to do. And with no G9 comic being almost ready, I can finally take it easier for a while. \o/

Shinra since your characters keep evolving with each chapter, (carla and the other girls growing horns and such and marias new look which is not explained in the story ). Do you improve/make changes on each character every chapter be it non story related?

DeleteSo for example, I never really rework their appearance in terms of faces, shapes or color skin, just to keep the consistency.
Now with their outfir or demonic appearance, yes I try to make them evolve.
It actually depends a lot on my skills, sometimes I'm limited by something I'm not good enough to produce, but that I can do 6 month later.
So yes, I always try to improve them without changing their initial appearance.
Maria had wings in Chapter 6, did you decide that the current Maria would not have any wings cause it did not fit? or was it a limitation of skills?

ReplyDeleteYou're probably looking at a monday release. Maybe sunday is possible too, but I think that clashing timezones will push it to monday.
The reason for this? Same reason as usual: time. Lack of it.
I am fortunate enough to have plenty of time, but both Shinra and HoC aren't so lucky.
Pages that should've been ready by now are still being worked on, and that is what's pushing back the release.
On the other hand, this already provided me the opportunity to do final checks on the many pages that ARE ready, so by changing the normal order of steps, we can still win back some time.
How about a picture a day then to help people cope with the waiting xD shinra used to do that, since its monday we only get 3 pictures :D
DeleteNot surprised it's Sunday at the earliest when I read we get 10 extra pages - that's 15-20 pics at least plus the finishing touches of the 220+ promised! What are the reasons for the extra scenes? Is it to finish/round out the chapter or to set up the next chapter? I have no problem waiting the extra days given how awesome parts one and two have been. Not just in quality but the depth of the story/corruption.

DeleteThe extra pages are actually not an extra scene but an altered scene. As awesome as the entire chapter is (I fully agree with you), there was one scene in part3 that was just...weak. Uninspired, forgettable, made no sense...a waste of pages compared to the quality of the rest of the chapter.
So I begged Shinra to redo that scene. Now that he wasn't in a rush anymore to storm through all the pages, I was sure he could put his full focus on this scene and come up with something much better.
In order to prevent part 3 from being delayed because of this request, I already asked him this during the work on part 2.
With me doing the part 2 text, HoC doing the part 3 text, and Shinra doing that part 3 scene, I thought that would be the most efficient way to work.
...However, real life caught up. HoC got too busy, Shinra got too busy, and no work on part 3 was done yet when part 2 was released. That's also why I was convinced that we would be unable to release part 3 two weeks after part 2.
Fortunately, that is all behind us now and work has resumed. Friday, saturday, and most likely sunday will turn out to be just too soon to have everything ready.
We'll pay another visit to Moyira Island in part 3 and everyone we've seen so far on the island has a role, Sonia included.
Oh, and Tethys still isn't ready to give up. Don't write her off! ^_^

DeleteStatus Update: today was a very disappointing day.
ReplyDeleteI had the entire day available to work on the pages and had hoped to complete them, but in the end, I haven't been able to spend a single second on the pages, simply because I don't have anything to work on!
On the bright side, HoC has today completed his part of the work and sent everything to Shinra, so that part of the work is done.
I, however, need to receive certain pages from Shinra first before I can even do anything...and that somehow hasn't happened today. I'm sure something unexpected must have come up for Shinra... That's real life for you. -_-
Because of today, a monday release is impossible. I'm just as disappointed by this as all of you must be. Hopefully, tomorrow (monday) will be much more productive.
It's all good. Life is meant to be enjoyed. I'm very excited to read the next part of chapter 8. Guess we'll just have to wait a little longer. Hopefully Tuesday!

I think there's a good reason why G9, then I, have chosen to work with MpGrey, it's simply because he's really good at what he's doing, according so much importance to the details. This guy's a machine with bionic eyes which see and catches from the slightest typos, to the big grammar mistakes.
And as far as I'm concerned, Mp has always been very careful not to change my narrative style, he's not writing the dialogues, he's correcting them.
The comic is taking so much longer than before, because the chapter is twice bigger than the previous chapter. Instead of blaming Mp, you should rather thank him, as he's the one who convinced me to split it into several parts and deliver it to you sooner.
If the comic's late, if there's someone to blame...I'm, unfortunately, the only one at fault >_<

DeleteAs you're somewhat polite in the way you're insulting me, you're getting a nice reply back.
As this is the first time I'm "helping" (why are these quotation marks necessary anyway?) Shinra, I suppose you have your opinion of me based on G9comics. No doubt you have seen me explain what I'm doing exactly already a few times on that and this blog, because for some reason, people are questioning me more often.
Did G9comics change after I started helping out? Yes, they sure did. Now that I'm there to help G9 with his English, he can finally make the comics that HE wants to make: the same type of comics but with much more focus on story. And that is fine with me, because that also happens to be the way I personally prefer his comics.
Even so, HE makes the comics while I provide feedback. I don't create any of the scenes. I just tell him what works or not and why. I warn him about holes in the plot, weird sudden transitions between scenes, and help him come up with ideas to fix these smaller issues.
Whenever he asks my advice directly about certain story segments, I give him a few options to choose from. Never ever am I pushing my own ideas through. I don't even care if he ends up not picking any of my options: as long as I somehow helped him to get new ideas, I did my job.
Another common complaint is that the comics have become less dark than what they used to be. Want to know the very simple reason behind this? He has gotten better with Daz and its lighting settings! The old Shadow Rangers comics had little thought behind them as far as the graphical quality went. He took a model, put it into a background, and "snap": picture taken. After all, he was just playing around with a new hobby, didn't take it that seriously and certainly never thought that he would still be making comics to this day.
All I'm doing is helping him make the comics as best as he can make them. That has little to do with me: all he needed was another pair of eyes, and someone with a lot of patience and willingness to keep doing this. It just happens that I'm the one doing it.
The speed (lack of it) of releasing new comics is another issue. Guess what? He has moved on in life too, just like everyone else. He now also has a personal life where it's not just playing around anymore, but where doing paid work, worrying about finances and his future, and all those other scary adult matters play an important role: there is just not as much time anymore to put into this hobby. And don't forget how little time went into the making of the old comics: prettier pictures take longer to make, so it's not fair to compare the old ones to the new ones anyway.
Though it's your own opinion, it's beyond me how you can compare newer G9comics to older ones and claim that they are "very less in quality". It's possible that you started liking them less (no one is forcing you to like them), but there is no denying the incredible leap in quality, and now with superior software and hardware, they'll only become even better.
"Very strange choices about the narrative" sounds like a random shot fired at me. You seriously prefer the quality of the text in the older comics? If so, then you must have a hard time liking anything you read: how dare people write anything with good grammar!
I would appreciate it if you gave me some examples of these strange choices because that would be helpful criticism and it's always welcome if people point out errors to me that I'm not aware of.
Now about TFS, you don't know if it will be the same as with G9comics? You're afraid that Shinra now also has let this ravaging beast in that will destroy his (and thus your) precious comics?

Good. Then I did my job well. My job is to not make you pay special attention to the text while reading, but instead allow you to be fully immersed in the story without being taken out of the "zone" because of clumsy typos or broken sentences.
The text, like the graphics, is just a part of the comic, and all these parts together create the total experience. As long as that is good, then you don't have to worry about noticing whatever it is that I have done.
If you're still not convinced then I'm sorry, but I have no other ways of convincing you nor will I keep trying. If you have already decided for yourself that mpgrey=bad news, based on your own assumptions that were never verified, then there is no way to change that.
Despite all this, I hope you'll like the remainder of TFS8 and also SR0-2 (whenever it comes out, right?)

I have several hobbies, besides reading your comics ;-) but I also work a lot of hours, and sometimes the job and unexpected things, family emergencies, etc, delay all my side-projects. It's disappointing, but that's life, just got to keep going forward. No matter how long it takes, I'm sure it will be awesome and worth the wait. Keep up the good work guys, you're amazing !!!

DeleteToday was an extremely productive day, though it has killed me.
All the pages that have been made are done and reviewed. Now it's up to Shinra to incorporate the fixes in the pages.
Apart from that, the only thing that's currently missing is a small part of that new scene I have mentioned earlier. The first 10 pages of this scene are ready for release by now, but Shinra needs to complete the remaining few pages.
The reason he has not done this yet is the same reason why sunday was such a wasted day: he had big problems with his pc thanks to newly installed software that went berserk.
That is all solved now and, without any emergencies, he should be able to easily finish those last pages tomorrow.
He'll send them to me, along with all the other pages that have gotten fixes, so I can work on the text of these last few pages and also give all the other pages a final check to see if nothing weird happened.
The problem, however, is that due to conflicting timezones, I am unable to complete the final part of my work when it is still tuesday (and with plenty of hours left for the uploading process).
That means that it will likely be wednesday. I can now say it with much more confidence because now, all the other pages are really, seriously ready. Just worked on them from 4:48 PM to 2:48 AM straight (Yeah, I clocked. >_>) in order to make sure to not let any other day go to waste.
It's about time this thing gets ready. It has taken long enough.

We have another unfortunate delay. Simple reason: work.
Today, Shinra came home from work at the very "pleasant" time of half past midnight(!)
And with a meeting at work early tomorrow, I'm sure you understand he didn't have time to complete the last pages.
He did update all the other pages with each and every single fix that HoC and I have suggested, so ALL those other pages are now 100% ready for release.
All that is left is the remaining part of that altered scene...I think we're only talking about 5 or so pages.
At the moment, both HoC and I have completed our work and have nothing left to do. We should all keep our fingers crossed that Shinra won't have another ridiculously busy day at work tomorrow so he can make those last few pages.
It's frustrating that we're so close to the finish line, but nothing can be done about this.

To get back to your other question, the experience with uploading is that it takes quite a few hours. However, if necessary, Shinra is willing to leave his computer on during the night, making the poor thing work while he is getting some sleep. ^_^
Is it possible for Shinra to upload the bulk of the files to a private/hidden gallery in e-hentai while he works on the altered pages in parallel? Then he can upload those pages last, reorder them, and make the gallery public. Just a suggestion, I don't even know if it's possible. If not, I can wait. Thanks for your efforts!

ReplyDeleteWith Thursday being best case scenario, I bet that Friday is more likely. Shinra has to do the 5 pages then send them for editorial approval. If all of that happens perfectly on Wednesday, then Thursday is possible. If Shinra can't finish the pages and/or if there are mistakes found in review, then that sets everything back at least another day. Since nothing seems to ever go perfectly, I would say that Friday is much more likely than Thursday.

Despite the best will in the world, I could not make anything tonight... As you said, real life obligations always get in the way.
I tried to go back home early, well, it didn't work that well, I'm actually left with 13 projects to manage with people working on them across the whole asian pacific region and Europe. If you thought collaboration is hard with different timezones...
Try to make France, India, China, Singapore and Australia work together, I can tell you it is a nightmare.
And on the other side, as much as I know you guys want to be my centre of attention, unfortunately for you, I have a loving wife who requires and needs my attention.
And lately, as much as I want to deny it, a 4-5 hours night everyday gets me tired >_<

Got to say, I don't mind waiting for amazing content (as is the case with all your work) but if you could please just stop giving us this overly optimistic timeframes. It's not the waiting that kills me, it's the checking every day expecting it to be up and having to sigh and find something else to tap to.
ReplyDeleteWhich was why i suggest next time if you have a delay, do some small uploads, since there are going to be cliff hangers anyway, do a small scene or a few pictures, it will probably shut people up and give you more peace of mind to do the remaining parts and you won't have to explain to anyone.

ReplyDeleteWhen I think about it I realize it's mpgrey's fault it's delayed because he convinced Shinra to do the extra pages that we are waiting for (I kid I kid - let's lighten the mood here).
ReplyDeleteShinra's the artist and its his vision and project so let him release it when he is happy with the project as it's his name on it. I am related to an artist and know some and they don't seem as easy going as Shinra when it comes to comments/demands about their projects.

DeleteYes, ironically it's that one scene that I requested to be changed that ends up delaying it all. I'm realizing it too.
Still, I don't regret that decision because the scene really wasn't good, and the 11 replacement pages that Shinra has already made so far are way superior and now do the particular characters in it justice.
I asked for them more than a month ago already, so it's just been one case of bad luck after another that Shinra ended up being unable to make them for varying reasons.
But hey, bad luck needs to end sometime, right? ^^
