Eh eh Eh some of you have been prompt to ask for a teaser of this new comic when
they saw the progress bar hit 25% ^^
I know I've been a little bit quiet those days, but I'm actually travelling quite a lot for my job lately.
Everything should be back to normal in 2 weeks.
But let's stick to the subject of this post to dicover some (I hope) nice tease pictures of this new comic.

I took the opportunity, working on this new comic, to try new rendering and lightning techniques.
I kinda like the result and will try to apply them to the next chapter of the fallen star to offer you again a better experience.
But first, let me know what you think about it !!!
Looks very promising and refreshingly different from Fallen Star. Not that there is anything wrong with Fallen star (on the contrary), but it's nice and interesting to see the skills you currently have being used on something very different.
ReplyDeleteThough Aki's face in the first pic instantly reminds me of Fallen Star. Apparently, faces likes that are your trademark! ^^
As for the fourth pic's quality, oddly enough, I think it's the least convincing of them all. Though both foreground and background are very pretty eye candy, it's as if they're not "connected" to each other (for lack of a better word). It looks like a zoomed in photograph of a plastic model featuring Aki jumping through an arch...understand what I mean? There may be too much lighting on the arch, making it look fake and unreal, and the forest background seems more like a 2d poster.
Sorry, I can't explain it any better. But it may not matter much if it's zoomed out in the end and part of a page with more pictures.
The picture you claim you "really love" handles the foreground and background a lot better: Aki is really standing there!
But enough about this. This seems to be the first comment, and I don't want to make it seem as if I'm negative or anything! >_<

sweet, well im not that good in analysing 3d art like mpgrey but for me does the rendering looks good enough and one question in the pic elders council are these good or bad guys ? p.s. im trying to get an account and call myself chimera-zofa but ive got problems with my email

ReplyDeletefor your account, Create a gmail account and set your nickname in your contact details and then you will be able to sign in as a member following this website. That must work.
If really it does not work for whatever reason, you still can use the name / url option. When you're posting a comment, in the "comment as" dropdown list, select Name/URL option, a pop up box will open asking you for a name or an URL, just type the name you wanna sign the comment with (e.g. chimera-zofa) no need to fill the url field and click ok. I've just posted this comment using this method.
However, it's better for you if you can get a proper account working, as you will have to repeat the operation each time you wanna post a comment ;-)
...though even with a g-mail account, you have to sign in every once in a while. I can't find any option to be able to be signed in permanently.

ReplyDeleteThe dark grey text is kinda hard to read now, and the homepage doesn't show the number of comments for each topic.
Also, your logo doesn't really work out well in combination with the new background.

DeleteIt was supposed to be no more than 50 pages at the beginning as it is a commissioned comic but I got carried away with the story.
Seems like I can't do small story, and since the first pics I posted of this comics, the guy who is commissioning me wants me now to do 10 chapters ^^
I'm not done yet rendering comics :-p

DeleteNo need to count, I can tell you that the chapter will have 294 pics exactly.
DeleteSince the 6th chapter of the falling, on top of the script, I'm writing a storyboard explaining what each and every pic will be, what dialog on that pic, special fx, narration and which page it will belong too.
This give a better control of the story and that's how I know the exact workload I will have ;-)
And I'm not starting to render any comic without doing this first now ^^

ReplyDeleteAnd we'll check in from time to time. P.S. try my hand with daz3d and it drives me nuts doing it alone maybe ill have to break down and get poser so I can do more. Being a noob sucks. Ha hah
Thank you. For the blog this is something I've done on my iPad while travelling so hard to do better right now ^^
DeleteCongratulations on your first steps with daz3d, hold on it s hard at the beginning but you will improve with time and practice. I'm not sure using poser will make it easier as it is more advanced than daz3d. Yes you can a lot more with poser but according to several other artists, it s harder to use.
And believe me you can do really nice stuff with daz. A good advice than G9 gave me when I started rendering 3d comic...lightning makes the difference. Master the lightning and your scene will become more and more amazing.
If you need my help or some advice, don't hesitate to ask me. I will try my best to give you good advice ;-)
shinra can you translate japanese or do you only know some vocabularys ?
